The Hugh James Foundation was established to honor the life and work of a dedicated educator whose impact on the community of Cornwall Mountain, Jamaica, remains profound.
Hugh James, taught at the local school for 29 years. He was more than a teacher; he was a guiding light whose passion for education, boundless kindness, and unwavering belief in every student’s potential left a legacy that continues to shape our mission today.
The foundation was built to reflect the things he cared about most: commitment, growth, and striving for excellence.
Our Mission: Empowering Cornwall Mountain Students
The Hugh James Foundation’s core mission is to invest directly in the academic potential of Cornwall Mountain’s future leaders. We provide tangible support to help students overcome financial barriers and succeed in their first critical year of high school and beyond.
Rollout
Working with school administrators to identify specific student needs, funding for school fees will be provided directly to the student’s account at the school, and a book voucher will be provided for parents to purchase the requisite books from the book list.
